WBGU report

The German Advisory Council on Global Change (WBGU) has published the first chapter of its report Security - Sustainable and Integrated. The report explores how climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution are shaping today’s security challenges. Firstly, the Council states that reducing global temperatures is a key part of an integrated security architecture. Secondly, WBGU defines natural infrastructure as ecosystems that contribute to civil protection. Lastly, the report highlights that ecosystem conservation and the joint management of natural resources can contribute to mutual understanding and peace by increasing trust between governments and individual societal groups. Additional chapters will be released over the coming months.
